What makes it Special?

Country of Origin: Japan

Designer: Taku Shinomoto

Materials: Elm wood

Dimensions: 2.75" H x 3.25"

Why is it Special?

The wood used for this tea canister has been cut with a technique, unique to Hatashikki, called “vertical cutting.” Cutting the wood vertically is to cut across the grain, resulting in a nicely textured feel and an attractive appearance. In addition, vertical cutting makes the wood less deformable and more shock absorbent than wood that has been cut using the more common horizontal cutting method.

Material & Care
Never place Hasami wood products in a dishwasher. Avoid submerging the wood in water for long periods, as this can cause the wood to absorb moisture, swell, or warp. After washing with a mild detergent and soft sponge, dry the item immediately with a soft cloth. Store in a well-ventilated area to prevent mold. To maintain the finish, periodically apply a food-safe wood oil or wax to prevent the wood from drying out or cracking.
Shipping & Returns

We offer free shipping on most orders in Canada over $199 (before tax). Regular stock items can be returned with original receipt within 14 days for a full refund. What makes it Special

Hasami

The historic town of Hasami in Nagasaki Prefecture began crafting its porcelainware almost 400 years ago during the Edo period, distributing them throughout Japan as well as to Europe. Today, "Hasami Porcelain" is designed by Takuhiro Shinomoto of Tortoise in Venice, CA whose vision was to integrate modern tableware design with the organic quality produced by traditional Japanese manufacturing techniques.
